ASSEMBLY
This week our class are hosting the primary assembly, with a focus on the expert learner quality of Active Thinker. Over the week we will be rehearsing for the event which is on Friday 25th at 12.20pm.

SCIENCE

CIVICS AND CITIZENSHIP
The diverse nature of Australian society and the importance of shared values in contemporary Australian society.
BUSINESS and ECONOMICS
Why it is important to be informed when making consumer and financial decisions.
TECHNOLOGIES
Design and construct a small storage container.
Design wearable technology using circuits.
Select and use appropriate ICT tools to safely share, exchange information and collaborate with others.
HEALTH
Protective behaviours.
Comparing product labels on food items or nutritional information panels and suggesting ways to improve the nutritional value of meals.
MATHEMATICS
Comparing fractions, locate and represent fractions on a number line, fractions of quantities, add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions, connect fractions, decimals and percentage.
Areas of rectangles, triangles and parallelograms.
3D shapes and nets.
PE
A focus on fundamental movements needed to perfect skills in various athletics disciplines. Developing fair play strategies.
ENGLISH
READING
Class novel and associated activities. Use comprehension strategies, focusing on critical literacy, to interpret and analyze information and ideas. Comparing content from a variety of sources including media and digital texts, making connections between information in print and images. Reading independently as well as in pairs and groups.
WRITING
Experiment with language features such as imagery, sentence variation, similes and metaphors to enhance writing. Understand how ideas can be expanded and sharpened through careful choices of adjectives, verbs and adverbs. Spelling will focus on rules, patterns and strategies, as well as focussing on individual spelling errors. Rereading and editing own and others’ work. Genre writing of information reports, procedural writing and poetry.
ORAL LANGUAGE
A prepared oral presentation about an author. Participation in class meetings. Sharing opinions, listening and responding to others and giving feedback. Confidently participating in assembly.
JAPANESE
Speech test, useful expressions and adjectives. Origami crafts.
PERFORMING ARTS
A focus on dance and choreography. Exploring choreographic techniques and learning a range of movement routines. Preparing for Lighting Up the Arts concert.
VISUAL ARTS
Caricatures – the part they play in pop culture and society, the news and current affairs.
Focus on artwork and interpreting meaning of famous art works.
Street Art – the messages they portray and their purpose.
