LAB ON LEGS
Last week the students attended a session of Lab on Legs. This program was a valuable addition on to our Physical Science topic of It’s Electrifying.
The session was very hands on, as Frank brought in a number of interesting experiments for the students to discover information about electricity.
Some of the activities included:
- attempting to light a globe in a series and in parallel
- transferring and transforming energy using electric motors and magnetic fields
- solar energy
- wind turbines
- making a Voltaic stack (the first basic type of battery)
Everyone was very attentive and actively involved with each task. Lots of discussion, questioning and trial and error took place. Mistakes were made and adjustments attended to, resulting in great learning outcomes.
STUDENT TEACHERS
We currently have 2 first year student teachers, Ellie Dart and Melissa Pisano who are observing and taking small groups in our classroom. They will be here on Thursdays and then for a 7 day block from the 14th to the 22nd of June. We welcome them to our class and will do everything possible to make their time with us a valuable learning experience.
LUTA
Lighting Up the Arts is fast approaching and we are all busy rehearsing for the night which should be spectacular. I hope you have all bought your tickets for the night at the Adelaide Town Hall on Thursday June 21st.
